Mould and condensation solutions in Devon
Mould on walls is usually a sign of cold surfaces, trapped moisture or both. We fix the wall, not just the stain.
Why mould keeps coming back
Wiping mould off or painting over it only hides it for a while. It grows where warm, moist air meets a cold surface, or where moisture is trapped in the wall, often because an older building has been sealed in with non-breathable plaster or paint.
How we tackle it
- Find the cause. Cold spots, trapped moisture, leaks or poor ventilation.
- Remove the damage. Mould treated, and affected plaster taken off where it has failed.
- Fix the wall. Re-finish with breathable materials, such as lime plaster or cork plaster, that let moisture out and keep the surface warmer.
- Advice on ventilation and decorating so it stays fixed.
If the problem is a leak, rising ground levels or something structural, we'll tell you honestly so it can be sorted first.
Common questions
Can you just paint over mould?
Not if you want it gone. Paint hides it for a while, but the cause is still there and it grows back. The wall needs fixing.
Is mould dangerous?
Mould can affect health, particularly for people with asthma, allergies or weak immune systems, which is why it's worth dealing with properly.
